Hauntingly Good Decor: Halloween Must-Haves for Beverage Enthusiasts
October is almost here aka Halloween is right around the corner! It's that bewitching time of year when we can unleash our inner ghouls, goblins, and creative spirits to conjure up eerie cocktails, set the perfect spooky scene, and make every sip a spine-tingling experience. Whether you're planning a haunted house party or simply looking to indulge in some spooktacular self-care, I’ve got you covered with some of my favorite Halloween finds that are perfect for Halloween decor, drinks, and more.
Some tips when buying decor/decorating:
Theme: Yes, Halloween is a theme in it of itself but dig deeper (no pun intended). My theme this year, since I rescued my black cat, is a witch theme with a spooky black cat. I’m looking for floating witches hats, serpent decor, and black magic to name a few. Other theme ideas: skeleton theme, vintage pumpkin, haunted house, or even 90’s horror movies!
Less is more: I’m always fond of the decor that feels natural to the space. The subtle touches of Halloween really do it for me. Change out your wine bottle holder for the serpent snake bottle holder. Don’t opt for plastic pumpkins, rather fill your home with real gourds! Oh, and candles… black candles win every time.
Color palette: For a cohesive Halloween aesthetic, it’s always smart to pick a color palette. That could be a color palette per room but a color palette nonetheless. Dark, moody colors like black, and deep gold with hints of deep green or red. Or think traditional with browns and oranges. Keeping things within a color palette will help with the overall aesthetic of your decor.
Natural Elements: Incorporate natural elements like dried leaves, branches, and cornstalks into your decor. These can add a rustic and autumnal touch.
Framed Art: Consider framing spooky or vintage Halloween-themed art or prints. Hang these on your walls or prop them up on tables. Don’t be scared to DIY a little ghost on a thrifted piece of art too, it’s such a fun and yet elegant way to add a little spook to your home.
Vintage Decor: Incorporate vintage or antique Halloween decorations (aka framed art I mentioned) and props for a nostalgic and tasteful look. These can include old-style lanterns, Victorian-inspired witch decor, or antique apothecary items. I always order a few staples from my favorite stores and then try to thrift the rest. Some thrift stores are spooky enough.
